Catherine Pederson of Cruise Ship Centre in St. Albert, Alberta, Canada won herself the SPTO's South Pacific Specific Specialist Program promotion prize draw. The promotion ran from August to November 2012 and travel agents who enrolled and completed the training program within that time were all eligible for this draw. SPTO CEO, Ilisoni Vuidreketi, said  "a holiday to the Fiji Islands will definitely help Ms. Pederson become more familiar and confident in selling the South Pacific". The South Pacific Tourism Organisation is the mandated inter-governmental body for the tourism sector in the region, with the mission to "Market and Develop Tourism in the South Pacific".

South Pacific Tourism Organisation members include the Pacific Island nations of the Cook Islands, Fiji, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Nauru, New Caledonia, Niue, Samoa, Solomons, Tahiti (French Polynesia), Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu and Papua New Guinea (PNG).  The People's Republic of China is also a country member of the South Pacific Tourism Organisation.

The South Pacific Tourism Organisation is dedicated to facilitating the sustainable development of the tourism sector in the South Pacific, thus contributing to pillar one of the Pacific Plan (economic growth).
